Remington XR-100
This single-shot rifle is an XP-100 pistol enlarged to rifle sized. The designers actually had to make several changes to the design to make it work as a rifle and not just adding a stock and longer barrel. The action is also slightly larger for more reliability and the rear part of the receiver is lengthened to allow it to accept a scope mount with the proper placement for use with a rifle-sized weapon. (The XR-100 has no iron sights.) The bolt handle does not have the "dogleg" of the XP-100, being a standard, slightly curved bolt-action handle instead. The ejection port is almost 7mm smaller than that of the XP-100, making the action more rigid and further enhancing its reliability. The trigger is externally adjustable, unlike that of the XP-100. The safety is also more reliable than that of the XP-100. The stock, made of laminated hardwood, has a cheek swell in it, as well as a thumbhole, and there are barrel cooling cuts in the fore-end.
